What Is Love?

Dear Evangelicals:

Yup, Covey is one of your guys. That doesn't mean he can't come up with the occasional wise word.

How he applies it may be another story, but this isn't about him. It's about you.

Earned and fought for -- you don't get love any other way, except from Jesus. The challenges inherent in human relationships should make you appreciate the unfathomable free gift of eternal salvation every day, but even that's backwards.

See, the way it's supposed to work is that you are so staggered by the God-Man's free gift of eternal salvation, paid for in blood, that you yourself give love freely, no matter what it costs you.

Love is not a feeling. It is not the stuff of frothy, romantic comedies and dizzy, obsessive love songs. Love is a verb -- an "action word" as they used to tell us in grammar school.

Now, how are you going to live it out?
